Are you a social media manager?

Or perhaps you’re just curious what a day in the life of social media manager working from home would be like?

You’ve come to the right place.

But before we jump into the daily routine,

… perhaps you’re curious to know how did I become a social media manager?

A little back story to how I became a social media manager

First of all, I am extremely lucky to have a job during this pandemic.

And I’ve had a little bit of experience already working from home – before it was a necessity.

Over the last 3 years I’ve been working remotely as a social media manager and enjoying my travel lifestyle so much!

Writing blog post from the amazing beaches in South Asia, scheduling content from my trip to Japan – taking breaks whenever I felt like it …

It may seem like a dream job! … and it is.

At least for me.

But all that changed when all of a sudden I found myself locked at home during a pandemic.

As I’m writing this post we’re in the 3rd lockdown here in Malaysia and hope to get back to our pre-COVID routine is pretty far away.

Nevertheless, with a little practice, I have developed a routine and systems to help me stay organized, save time and increase my productivity.

And since I’ve received a lot of questions on Instagram asking me how I manage my time working from home, I thought I’d film a video and show you exactly how I do it.

Let’s face it: working from home has many distractions – unless you live alone.

My biggest challenge as a social media manager is time management.

In this video, I’ll break down my daily routine and take you through some of my favourite tools & systems that help me stay organized and productive.

Below is a typical day in my life as a social media manager

Not all days are the same though.

I make sure to allocate days in my monthly calendar for:

  • Market research
  • Content creation
  • Business development
  • Client calls
  • Sending invoices
  • & other CEO/business management stuff

In this post I am sharing a typical content creation day.

Tools, systems & tips for new social media managers

These are some of my favourite tools and tips that I wanted to share with you if you are considering to become a social media manager:

  1. Plan your tasks with a monthly calendar (also have a calendar for each of your clients) I use Trello.com to create separate boards for each of my clients.
  2. Have a system for creating content (Ideas, Outline, Graphics, Captions, Hashtags, Schedule & Optimize, Reports)
  3. Have an engagement routine
  4. Use automation tools to save time
  5. Know your limits
  6. Take a day off & social detox
  7. Read all the news!
